I know its been a while but so far with this post its once a week if I keep up this pace I'll beat last years record np. I know its late but with my limited Photoshop knowledge I've pieced something together. This is my first but it wont be my last. Its like a wierd sense of pride but knowing that I've got a long way to go. I wanted it to be a banner but I didnt think it through its too big. I'll figure something out. The previous year has been tough but I have to thank God above all else for helping me through it. I'm broke as shit but I have my health and thats all I can ask for. I've been drawing every day. Previously when I drew my only gripe was that is was hard to organize my drawings all in one place so for the moment I'm only drawing in the BIG ASS BOOK its pretty big 11x17 thhe only problem is that I can't really scan anything I draw because my scanners max is 11x14. I know that there is a way to do it but I can't figure it out. For the new year I dont really have any resolutions because the year wont change who I am. I'm gonna keep at it until its right. If i could draw everyday this year I would be happy. So lets see how that goes. I did take some pictures of the first drawing in the Big Ass Book. Its not much but just incase you were curious. Also It would be nice to post atleast twice a month. More as a means of venting about everything. Its a long way to the top but I intend to get there someday. I tried to straighten out the sideways pic but it was being stubborn but if this is any indication of the future there is definately going to be more to come.

Not to be a grinch but i never liked christmas never celebrated it as a kid. Theres not much meaning to it anyway.Maybe im not thinking happy thoughts but right now. Some kid named bo has got me real pissed off right now and the only thing I can do is wait a little for this to all blow over. Week 1 and I havent got anything important done. We'll see how the rest of this vacation turns out.

so yeah, I apologize for the last weak ass post but, I've been busy with school and finals. but with all the bull out the way i've been rewriting the second and third chapters. I'm trying to make a coherent story and I wont rest till i get something good. With that said I'm gonna update and hopefully this update streak will last through the school year till the launch of dormant??

I planned on posting on the 1st of November for a fresh begining but there was really nothing that happened or mattered enough for me to post. Today was the same. I'm having a hard time making my drawings more dynamic. Some time of artist block I plan on waking up early and just sketching it out for a while. Hm today what I do nothing I ran and im happy im making progress its good to see improvement from time to time. I did a charcoal drawing for one of my classes in the bitter cold and My best friend whopped my ass time and time again in smash. Besides that nothing new. Come to think of it, I saw a documentary on Jack Kirby he was the best at what he does cuz he worked at it. http://paulanski.com/index/Ffkirby.html heres the link. So I tend not to sleep as much as I'd like to here I am yet again. The week is almost over. I made a new header and I kinda like it. I've been using 2 types of pencil to draw one for concept another to get down good lines. Even a lil bit of photoshop although really its only text. Im gonna draw more take an hour or two each day. see what I can do. So far I'm happy that I've updated 3x this week. The next step is to have a drawing of the day or something but lets just see how far this goes huh? I'm still debating if I should use the wordpress comic press combo or if I should use dreamweaver. I shouldnt worry though I've got alot to learn in terms of well everything. So yeah on that note good night I suppose? Heres to hoping for a sunday post.

Long day

I've been taking a begining drawing class and well its midterm time. I wrote a short story called 8 minutes. Which took forever then drew out some character concepts. There was so much preparation it didn't hit me how long it would take to actually draw all the panels. I divided 18 x 24 paper in 2 so i got about 4 comic pages but it took most of the night to get done. Its been a long day and I am extremely tired. But with that said I am happy that Im updating atleast 2x a week. I wanna keep it up. Also I wanna quit the Criminal Justice route and Go here. http://www.scad.edu/sequential-art/index.cfm sucks that I've already invested my life in this bs. Well Im gonna go catch some Zzzs cuz im tired as hit. Hopefully this weekend I get to put in more work in photoshop. Well with that said nite.

Well I meant to post this on sunday being the beginning of the week but I've been lazy. and that has been well the thing with me for sometime. Ive become complacent although Ive achieved nothing. I want to make Dormant Happen yes I just capitalized that H. I don't know how long it will take but I'm gonna get it done. Ronald has a phenomenal story and its coming together quite nicely. I'm at work though. I lost 2 story arcs because of a washing machine mishap which made me realize although the digital format is nice. It's not the end all be all. I'm gonna try to update this blog atleast 2x a week. Hopefully that gets me in the frame of mind I will need to update a comic bi-weekly. This is what I want to do even more so than what I'm doing in school. Well thats enough but, last week I picked up Applegeeks Vol. 2 and a Moleskine note book to write my notes in transition on the bus and stuff Dormant will happen. Till next time.

Impetus..

Well today is the first of July so In a sense, i'm try to get back on my grind so to speak. I don't want a new start because, I feel there is no sense in wiping clean all the mistakes. Looking back on the mistakes I've made... I can't laugh but I can learn. Anywho today was pretty sick. My first time working two jobs. The irony of it all is that I didn't have a job to begin with and now two. So Yeah I'm going to do that. The rant earlier about making mistakes is me hinting about how happy I am in the city. And I would not have had the chance if I hadn't messed up. I'll elaborate on that later on.
Lemme just give you a rundown of how sweet my day was. 8:15 my eyes open 8:16 I realize that I have to be at work for the first time at 8:30...fuck. I put on a nice button down shirt some slacks and head for the Bus which happens to be waiting for me at the bus stop. I get to work at 9:11...balls ... so as I sit anticpating being fired from a job before I even got to work there for a second time( one of the MANY mistakes I hinted at) a ray of hope flickers through the window the manager shows up and tells that the woman who was doing the orientation was late...later than me...YES... After all the training. I went to see Justin and realized that I was late for my second Job...Great..Took the F all the way to West 4th and for lack of better judgement took the C train I saw this old guy sitting there and I ask him If the Train was headed to nordstrand. He said that and that was that ...or so I thought.
Sitting there on a local C train while possibly late..I heard you from Africa... I replied to the man yeah...then a moment later he yelled West Africa? and I was a lil bit more suprised but went with the yeah....he said Ghana?Right? That suprised me..and from there we began one of the best random subway conversations I've had... It was cool seeing my culture from a different perspective.. He told me how he loved the palm wine and the beautiful women. He told me about the 70s when he was twenty he has seen most of the world. Told me he went to nigeria but It couldn't compare. We laughed about Star Beer and Fufu. He said the first time he had fufu he cried.lol.(I'd later come to find out he was a professional chef.) He told me about his radical days one in particular that stood out. At a checkpoint in Nigeria him and some friends were trying get rid of some weed in the car so they ditched it last minute. At the checkpoint the guards were laughing cuz they saw it happen. The guards explained they were looking for weapons an not drugs..when he asked for it back they laughed even harder and said no.
His name was Vernon and this was a random encounter but it is because of days like these..when I'm tired beat down and downtrodden. I smile I realize how much I love this damn city.

wow haven't seen you in a long time, whatchu been up to? me oh nothing just taking a couple of classes here and there you know? oh yeah did I mention that school takes up all my EFFFIN time. Like seriously right now I gotta study for yet another sumthin or other after writing a around FOUR PAPERS in like TWO days. Ofcourse I miss you. I miss the hell outta you but I dunno if I can make this work right now. I can't ask you to wait for me that would be too cruel. Your young and beautiful and Im just spreading myself wayyy tooo thin. Well just know its not you its me...really it is..well it was nice seeing you again. Hopefully we can get together sometime in the future..

LOL in all seriousness though Im really busy I've been sketching more but not enough to where im happy, school is kinda overwhelming but yeah...Check back tommorow Im gonna have somethin good for you tommorow...maybe...if I can find the time... :(

Another Week in the life...

What a week this has been, I don't really know how to follow that up but I've just been thinking about the choices we have to make as opposed to the choices we want to make and how they define us. Because, the thing that sucks with choice is that usually you only get to make one. After almost 20 years I find myself asking the same questions I did when I was in Hs. I can only wonder if things will be the same when I'm 30. In an attempt to become more adult I keep finding myself in juvenile positions. And I can't help but wonder am I making the right choice. But good or bad it's just a matter of perspective. I've been working harder than usual trying to play catch up in school. Bought some expensive books for 3 dollars. Lost my only set of keys. and here I am reflecting on a non productive week. For some reason it's one of those things that you can't help but smile...so I didn't do much skeching although I got a new one. On a lighter note my Hallmate...? I dunno he lives across the hall decided to sketch me and damn...Its hot...real hot, so on that note I'm going to find something to occupy my time...maybe this reading thing.

Saturday Night of the Living Dead

Since the start of the semester...Lets just say time hasn't been on my side but I was listening to HelloGoodBye alot during the break and their album called Zombies! Aliens!Vampires!Dinosaurs! and I thought that would be a great idea something to draw but I never got around to it but now its aboot 4am on a Saturday night and I didn't really do much beside sit around and play Legend of Zelda for the Ds my hall mate was so kind but anywho I digress I drew it, I'm quite pleased I did it all in one sitting and yeah my scanner decided to work with me today so I scanned it and here is the first draft for your viewing pleasure with that said I'm gonna go do what young people do now a days.

Since the semester started I've had little time for myself let alone a comic or a blog but as cliche as this sounds I won't let my dream die regardless of my obligations so I i'm spending the night playing catchup and so far it goes well. My only concern are the twilight hours, I'd hate to to fall asleep minutes before class, or during a lecture but, Its a sacrifice worth making. Unfortunately I don't have any sketches for today but I'm working on it.. Go show him some love. This weekend on the other hand was amazing...From a house warming...to a emotional superbowl win to dickin around at el museo to playing rockband until the wee hours of the morning. Good times with good friends. It would be nice to see some friends from home but we can't have it all can we... Guess I'm gonna do some reading.. and yes Once a week update at the minimum . But whats a blog without pretty pictures 9 times out of 10 ya look at the pictures first.

Well Good News Everyone!!,(ok Im gonna chill with the futurama references) I received my laptop back and so far so good. Has it almost been a week? I wanted to update bi-weekly but it's not necessarily my fault cuz my comp was decommissioned. Eh well Im gonna get back on the grind. Tomorrow is back to Albany for me , Hm thats odd I coulda sworn I had more to say but Im at a loss for words right now. Don't you just hate when you go traveling pack up and leave and forget something? Its like inevitable a sock or i dunno something that you need.Without any form of entertainment I started to read( go figure) Wizard's How to Draw:Storytelling. Its pretty damn good pg. 38 has the hulk crying and pissed off about betty so naturally I tried to draw it...but im not gonna show you....ofcourse Im gonna show you cuz I got nothing better to do.yeah pretty much thats aboot it for now, besides loosing everything on my hard drive and getting lied to yet again it's been a pretty damn good week. Bad News, Everyone!

In the words of Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth... Bad news everyone!. My Laptop Has spent one too many a night playing Russian roulette and it finally caught up with him but luckily for me I have a warranty thats still good. So my laptop is going to rehab for 7 to 9 days . Not to mention that I attempted a system restore or recover and in the process lost all of my art music and software so this is nice...but sela ve life can be cruel. Hopefully I can get it back before school resumes. Without a computer I've been sitting around the house...dumbfounded watching random movies Apocalypto and Hot Fuzz to name a few and I seemed to have misplaced my burning vigor for sketching so here I sit in a dimly lit room at 5 am watching law and order on tnt. Well tomorrow is a new day and everything happens for a reason so people as your reading this give you computer some love and show it how you feel. give it a hug or rub it down no matter just show it that you care in your special way. I know that when I go to bed Ill be dreamin of my baby. Well that's all I gotta say. I'll be dreamin of my baby and hope it can find its way back to me . I suck at saying good bye so....

Meet the Artist

I wanted to write a little bit about me so here goes. my name is Kwadwo and I'm a full time college student but my passion for comics is what keeps me going. As the months go by I'm gonna keep at it with the sketches and stuff and get this comic project : Dormant going. Currently I'm working on the project with Ronald Alexander and Justin Blackman so expect some great things.

This blog is an experiment and not the actual comic even though there will be bits and pieces before the final thing. I will be the artist for most of the comic but as we expand and grow anything is possible . since there are three contributors we're gonna try to update bi-weekly and see where it goes from there. Stuff about me I'm and avid gamer and something you didn't know Kwadwo is Ghanian for born on Monday . I'm new to this blogging thing but I'm willing to take a shot . As we grow we might have more columns for gaming news and reviews but I'm getting ahead of myself but for the time being stay tuned and we'll see what happens if you have any questions my contact info is in my profile.

A brief history behind the name slight annoyance. whenever life throws you a curve ball or screws with you thats pretty much a slight annoyance for example having your computer shut down on you constantly when trying to finish a blog or having a scanner lose the file last minute. or my personal favorite having someone talk through a movie then ask you for the plot hence ruining the movie experience. Slight annoyances piss me the hell off so the only natural thing is to make about then and plug my comic :) until later- Kwadwo.

New Year same vices. Im trying to get my foot in the door so im doing something new. Hopefully I can update at least once a week and if you like what i post keep reading. This is more of an experiment to see how i grow within the next 12 months so please enjoy. :)
